It has been revealed by none other than YG Entertainment CEO Yang Hyun Suk that upcoming boy group iKon will finally be making their debut on September 15th.
During a recent interview with Yang Hyun Suk, he had revealed that he plans to debut the group after label mates BIG BANG completes their promotions for their upcoming MADE album, which will be released on September 1st, so that the two groups would not be going head-to-head.
The group has been receiving a lot of attention since the days of being “Team B” on the reality survival show run by YG in 2013 “WHO IS NEXT?”. They garnered even more public attention when member Bobby and B.I went on the hip-hop survival show “Show Me The Money” season 3 and Bobby walked away as the winner. Then, as if to troll fans even more, the boys went through another survival show “Mix & Match” to decide on the final line-up for iKon. In the end, the upcoming boy group will include Jinhwan, Yunhyeong, Bobby, B.I, Junhoe, Donghyuk, and Chanwoo.
The other two members that did not make it into iKon – Jinhyeong and Hongseok – have not been idle either. Hongseok entered YNB entertainment almost immediately after, but seems to have moved over to Cube Entertainment since then, while JinHyeong had joined Cube Entertainment after the show.
Meanwhile, it is rumored that another label mate, PSY, has plans to make a comeback in September and has hopes of squeezing in his comeback between BIG BANG‘s “MADE” promotions and iKon‘s debut.
