BabyMetal could be a curious band but it is Japan we are talking about and a band of pre-teens is not the most surprising thing about this country.
The band is formed by three girls, Su-Metal (Suzuka Nakamoto – vocal and dance), MoaMetal (Moa Kikuchi – scream and dance) and YuiMetal (Yui Mizuno – scream and dance), all of the about 14 or 15 years old.
The band started in 2010 but now they work under the label Toy’s factory and the genre that they play is a mix of Death Metal and Pop music.
Their music videos and performances are like dark carnivals full of costumes, armors, pop-like choreographies and, most of all, a lot of energy.
The band was first a subunit of another female idol group called Sakura Gakuin. The band was a success since the beginning with their first album “BabyMetal × Kiba of Akiba” getting to the 3rd position in the Oricon indie weekly chart. But it wasn’t until “Ijime, Dame, Zettai” that the band got to the big spot. This single was a success and still is having in mind how worrisome is the problem of bullying in Japan.
Their fan-base is growing bigger and bigger to the point that they have been invited to perform in the famous “Summer Sonic 2013” rock festival that will take place between August 10 & 11. It will be their second big concert and we are sure that it won’t be the last!
