Monolith is a visual kei band based in Japan where it was founded back in 2006. Their esthetics are as other bands outstanding but with a more younger feel to it than other visual kei bands with a predominance of bright blue color. Their music goes from hard rock to fresh pop sounds with a lot of heavy metal. It is really catchy with a punky feeling but always maintaining the visual kei foundation in their style, which goes, as I said from classical visual kei to oshare kei. This mixture gives them a very original look.
After their debut back in 2006. The band consists of Ryo (vocals), Keita (vocals), Shuhei (Guitar), Takafumi (bass), Hayato (drums). Shortly after their debut they started giving a lot of concerts and releasing singles being the first one “DESERT THEATER” on November 24th of that year. It wasn’t until 2008 that they released one of their most unusual singles “Nostalgia“. I said it was unusual because it was released freely with their “MONOLITHIC CULT NEO“.
They later changed their label to Loop Ash and released to other singles which were followed by some more during 2008 and 2009 and also they did quite a lot of live performances such as “[PRAY]er’s HIDEOUT“.
They released their first mini album in 2010, it was called “Fiction” and it was officially released at their concert in Sendai on March 29th of that year.
Apart from all the singles they have also release three albums so far. The first one “BRAZEN” was release in 2011, “Fiction & non-fiction” was also release in 2011. And the last one, “Mosaic” was released just a month ago, on March 13 2013.
They are a really young and hardworking band to the point that it have even taken a tool to their health. Hayato was hospitalized just two months ago but his recovery was fast.
Lets wish them good health and a lot more success!
