F.CUZ, which is pronounced as ‘Focus’, is a 4 member group managed by Tunes-Will Entertainment (CAN Entertainment prior to 2014), and they are active in both Korea and Japan. They debuted in January 2010 with their 1st single ‘Jiggy’, but like many other groups, they have gone through lineup changes. They debuted with Jinon, LeeU, Kan and Yejun, however, LeeU left the group in August 2011. He then joined Stardom Entertainment as a trainee, before moving to Benjamin Entertainment and debuting in M.Pire under the name Lumin. For a little while, the group then promoted in Japan as a trio, but were then joined by Raehyun and Daegun in 2012.
Before their debut as a group, Raehyun, Jinon, Kan and Yejun were all friends from Anyang High School of Arts, and before F.CUZ began, Jinon was a member of a predebut group called GM6, who are now known as Supernova. All the members, with the exception of Daegun, previously pursued a career in acting. Raehyun appeared in numerous music videos, as well as dramas such as ‘Assorted Gems’. LeeU was a soloist before he joined F.CUZ, and participated in a few drama OST’s such as ‘Gourmet’. He is also the son of famous Trot singer, Sul Woon Do. Daegun begun his career under Xing Entertainment, however the 5th generation of XING never officially debuted. He then moved to Golden Goose Entertainment as a member of Double B21, who are now known as A Peace. He left the group after their ‘S.O.S’ promotions.
The group was first announced by CAN Entertainment in late 2009, and individual member teaser videos were released each day. After the release of ‘Jiggy‘, the group signed with SEEDMUSIC for their Taiwanese promotions. F.CUZ soon made their comeback with ‘No One’ in March 2010, and the song went on to be one of their most popular and well known songs. To date, the group have released 3 mini albums and 3 singles in Korea, and 6 singles and 6 digital singles in Japan, as well as 1 single in Taiwan.
Amongst the lineup changes, Jinon (Born in 1989) has always been the leader and main rapper, Kan (1991) is the visual, main dancer and lead vocalist, and Yejun (1992) is the lead rapper and maknae. LeeU (1990) was originally the main vocalist, but he was replaced by Daegun (1990) and Raehyun (1991).
The group finally made their comeback with ‘One Love’ which was their first comeback in almost two years. Over the years, they have proved themselves to be capable and talented singers as well as dancers. I believe that whilst this group have been through a fair amount, they still have a long way to go, and from their new release, their new label seem promising too. So, keep your eye out for F.CUZ in the future!
