N-Sonic stands for Neo-Sonic, meaning new. They made their debut in October 2010 under MBOXENT as a 5 member group with their single ‘We Are Super Boys’. However, the single failed to get much attentions and a few members soon left the group. They then took more than a whole year out of the industry to move to C2K Entertainment and add members to the group. They then finally made their comeback (often referred to as their ‘re-debut’) with their 2nd single ‘Lie’ in may 2013. This time, the group gained a bit more attention with their more up to date sound and catch beat. The group then released their 1st mini album ‘Into The Light’ in October of the same year, and more recently have made their comeback with their 2nd mini album ‘Reset’.
The group currently has 6 members, and J.Heart is the leader and eldest. He is one of the singers of the group, although he does also rap on occasion. Before his debut, he was a trainee at SM Entertainment and won 1st place SM Entertainment’s National Youths Best Contest in the dance category, as well as 3rd place at the Ministry of Culture Director’s Cup National Circle All-Stars Tournament. He also composed and wrote the intro track on their debut single.
Sihoo and Minkee are also both singers in the group, but have also know each other since 2008 and were trainees together. Minkee is also still a member of the DEF Dance Team. Choi Byeol, another singer, was a CF model before debut, and has done advertisements for LG and Samsung. Black J, the rapper of the group, was a trainee for 7 years before his debut, and was part of a dance team at Core Contents Media. His also a talented beatboxer. Sion, the maknae and singer, previously trained with Cube, JSTAR and B2M Entertainment, and passed the auditions at JYP and DSP. Former members of the group are Jonguk, Eunho and Yunjun.
Although N-Sonic did not have a “successful” debut, they are a group that I have come to love. Since their move to C2K Entertainment, they have continued to improve a lot and their songs are undeniably catchy. Unfortunately, I feel they have become somewhat lost in the sea of idols! However, I highly recommend you check them out and support them if you can, because they definitely deserve it!
