Born in Los Angeles on October 7th, 1991, Nicole Jung first gained prominence with Kara after her move to South Korea in 2006. She debuted with the group the following year, performing as vocalist, rapper and maknae, until the departure of Sung Hee, at which point, she took centre stage as the group’s lead vocalist.
During her seven-year period with Kara, she featured on fifteen of the group’s sixteen major releases, starting with the debut album, 2007’s The First Blooming. The following year, she had her first songwriting credit on the eponymous track from Kara’s first mini-album, 2008’s Rock U. While a member, she performed eighteen guest slots and duets with artists as varied as the punk group No Brain and IU.
However, after announcing her intention to dissolve her contract with DSP entertainment in 2011, the move was finalised in January of 2014. She made her final appearances with Kara on their two albums, ‘Fantastic Girls’ released in August 2013 and ‘Full Bloom’, which arrived one week later in September. Her final performance came on MBC’s New Year’s Eve show Gayo Daejeon.
After retreating to prepare for her solo debut thereafter, she signed up to B2M Entertainment and proceeded to release her first mini-album on November 19th 2014.
