Rain can be described as a world star, due to his popularity not only in various Asian countries, but in North America and Europe as well. Born in 1982 as Jung Ji-Hoon, his road to stardom wasn’t an easy one. After being able to overcome his childhood shyness and struggles at school, undoubtedly the biggest misfortune came with the loss of his mother to diabetes in his late teens. Eventually though, after being signed by JYP Entertainment, his star began rising, and while there have been small dips along the way, there’s no stopping him. He’s an incredible dancer with a great voice, and his acting is brilliant as well.

Rain began his career in 2002 with the release of his first album, “N001”, which was followed by “Rain2” in 2003. His third album, “It’s Raining”, sealed the deal for him as one of Asia’s biggest stars. The biggest hit from the 2004 released album is the title song of the same name, “It’s Raining”. 2006 saw the release of his fourth album, “Rain’s World”. In 2008, he released “Rainism”, which received a lot of attention from the The Commission of Youth Protection, thanks to the lyrics in the song “Rainism”, and the whole album was deemed inappropriate for under 19 year olds. Rain re-released a clean version of the song, but kept the album as it is, with an added warning of the album’s age limit. He released a mini-album in 2010, named “Back to the Basic”. Rain enlisted in October 2011, and after two long years, completed his mandatory military service in July 2013. It was announced he had signed a contract with Cube Entertainment, and began working on his next album. Rain made his big comeback in early January 2014, with the album titled “Rain Effect”.

Rain has also released a number of Japanese albums throughout the years, and has made quite a name for himself as an actor as well, most notably in series such as “Full House” and “The Fugitive: Plan B”, and in movies like “I’m a Cyborg, But That’s Ok”, “Ninja Assassin” and “R2B: Return to Base”. As part of his 2014 comeback, Rain starred in his own reality show called “Rain Effect”, which premiered in December 2013.

Evidently, whatever Rain does, he does it with passion and dedication. With new projects planned for his future, we can rest assured that we’ll be seeing a lot more of him. We’re eagerly awaiting!
