Xia Junsu is a South Korean artist and member of JYJ. Junsu made his debut in 2003 under SM Entertainment with the group DBSK (now known as TVXQ). Following complications with SM Entertainment, Xia Junsu formed JYJ with two other members of DBSK, Jaejoong and Yoochun.
In 2010, Xia Junsu made his musical debut with a leading role in the musical called ‘Mozart’. Following his musical debut, he starred in additional musicals such as ‘Elisabeth’, ‘Dracula’ and ‘Death Note’. In April of the same year, Xia Junsu embarked on making his solo singing debut in Japan with a self-produced double A-side single titled ‘Xiah’, landing it at number 2 on Japan’s Oricon Daily charts.
In 2012, Xia Junsu focused on his solo activities and launched a Korean album titled ‘Tarantallegra’. Junsu was directly involved in the creation of this album as he composed, produced, and wrote most of the lyrics. To promote the album, Junsu held several worldwide tours in Europe, Asia, South America and North America.
In 2015, Xia Junsu has released a mini-album titled ‘Yesterday’. To date, Xia Junsu has released three full studio albums (Tarantallegra, Incredible, Flower) and two EPs (Xiah, Yesterday). Junsu had won numerous awards acknowledging him as a highly acclaimed performer. In 2010, he was nominated for five awards and won all of them. These were awarded by the 4th Musical Awards, the 16th Korea Musical Awards and the 2010 Golden Ticket Awards. In 2013, Xia Junsu also won the popularity award for his role in ‘Elisabeth’.
As a young performer of just 29 with many achievements under his belt, it is easy to see why Junsu is so popular! As a talented singer, actor, pianist, composer, producer… Xia Junsu is definitely a legend in his own respect – he is an all-rounder in the music industry!
