On 14th of June 2016, TS Entertainemtn released a video promoting BAP’s members Daehyun and Jongup newest song, from their “Party Baby” Project Album. The company has actually been praised for finally promoting the artists’ music in the right way and giving them more attention and opportunities than before.
The song is an R&B pop song, that shows a sexier and darker side of the members, that are performing on the stage. The Music video doesn’t have a storyline and doesn’t follow a certain plot. It doesn’t have matching outfits or complicated choreography. It is quite simple, and it only shows the artists performing and having a good interaction with the crowd. It shows that sometimes keeping it simple it is a better idea. The quality of the video and the way it was filmed, shows professionalism and a good budget. I like this kind of videos because you can just focus on the artist and its music, rather than having your attention stolen by visual effects.
For me, this video is trying to portray the artists as “bad boys”, all dressed in black, having smooth dance moves, trying to mesmerise the fangirls in the crowd. The style of the music video also matches with the beat of the song, and during the music video, the same visual theme is being kept. It is showing the 2 members as performers and nothing else.
It is more of an intimate look for the fans, to show what is happening behind the cameras as well. There are small fragments where you can see the singers backstage getting ready for the show. You can see them being nervous or anxious because they are about to go on stage. It gives fans a more “private” view of what goes on in their idols mind before the concert. I liked that they kept it simple, but also professional. I usually prefer the bad boy concept on boy groups, and I think this style suits BAP the best. The song is kind of mysterious and the concept is not something that has not been done before, but as I said I think it suits the members the best.
