SM has recently created SM STATION, a new creative digital music channel on which Spring Love sung by Eric Nam and Red Velvet‘s Wendy is the third released video. Spring Love is a song about a new love that blooms from friendship.
The music video follows Eric and Wendy as they go on a cute date in a somewhat abandoned, rusting theme park. They walk around hand in hand, blow bubbles, play the guitar together and my personal favourite; they goof around on the carousel. Essentially they go on a stereotypical perfect cutesy date.
The music video is filmed with a lot of handheld camera shots, plus the vintage reel tape filter adds to the sweet and lovely feel of the video. I like the fun addition of the graphics to the video: the water drops when they’re popping bubbles, the music notes when they’re playing guitar, the lighting added to Eric’s glare and the hearts when they almost fake kiss – cringe.
Overall, it’s a really sweet, slightly quirky date music video that matches the song perfectly. Eric and Wendy act as a couple quite well and you can see their chemistry, especially when they make silly faces at one another.
3/5
